Technical Lead (AI, ML & Data Engineering) - Banking Tech - J12411

Pinpoint Asia is currently seeking a highly skilled Technical Lead to join the Data Technology division of a leading international financial institution.

This is a hands-on "player-coach" role ideal for a senior technologist who enjoys leading from the front. You will spearhead a high-priority initiative to build a single, comprehensive data cataloging solution that connects business processes, data, products, and services across the bank’s global business units.

In this role, you will bridge the gap between complex data engineering and advanced AI/ML implementation, moving beyond simple management to actively design, prototype, and build solutions.

Key Responsibilities:

• Technical Leadership: Lead the engineering team and collaborate with executive stakeholders to ensure the successful delivery of data initiatives.

• Architecture & Design: Define solution architecture, functional design, process design (flow mapping), and support procedures. Document lessons learned for accelerated incubation of future projects.

• Hands-on Development: actively work on prototyping, testing, and developing classification algorithms and data preparation pipelines.

• AI & ML Implementation: Conduct assessments of AI use cases and implement solutions involving Image Processing, Text Extraction, Clustering, Classification, and Embedding models.

• Model Operations: Develop and maintain Drift Detection and Model Monitoring implementations. (Experience with AgentEvals for LLMs is a strong plus) .

• Security & Governance: Ensure robust PII identification/extraction and implement data governance standards while securing applications against systemic vulnerabilities.

Key Requirements:

• Language Skills: Must be fluent in Cantonese and Mandarin (spoken and written) for client stakeholder management, as well as English.

• Experience: 8+ years of experience leading data engineering teams and delivering Data Science/Machine Learning solutions.

• Core Tech Stack: Deep expertise in Python (Pandas, Numpy, PyCharm), TensorFlow, NLP, and Deep Learning frameworks.

• Big Data & Cloud: Strong background in Big Data technologies (Hadoop, PySpark, Scala) and Cloud Platforms (Experience with GCP is highly preferred; AWS/Azure considered).

• Data Expertise: Proven experience in Data Modelling, Data Wrangling, Data Lineage, and Data Warehousing/Lakehouse architectures.

• Algorithm Experience: Must have experience building Document Type Classifiers, Standardized Form Matchers, and Advanced Pattern Matching systems.

• DevOps & Tools: Proficiency with GitHub, Jenkins, REST APIs, and ElasticSearch.

• Industry Background: A background in Banking or Finance is highly preferred, though strong technical candidates from other data-heavy industries will be considered.

Education:

• Bachelor’s degree or higher in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
