Systems & Database Engineer (High-Frequency Infrastructure) - J12317

Pinpoint Asia is partnered with a premier global quantitative investment manager to find a Database Engineer who thrives at the intersection of Linux systems and high-performance database administration. This is a pure Individual Contributor (IC) role, reporting directly to the Head of Database Engineering.

You will not be managing people; you will be the architect and guardian of the data systems that power global trading. This firm operates at the frontier of technology, where database latency and reliability directly impact the bottom line.

What You’ll Do

• Engineer for Performance: Go beyond standard administration into deep kernel and performance tuning to ensure databases keep pace with systematic trading requirements.

• Own the Environment: Manage a high-availability production stack primarily focused on PostgreSQL and SQL Server running on-premise Linux systems.

• Bridge the Gap: Work alongside Quants, Researchers, and Developers to transform complex data flows into robust, high-availability database solutions.

• Secure & Scale: Drive capacity planning, disaster recovery strategies, and security protocols for a global infrastructure.

Who You Are

• The Practitioner: You have 5+ years in production DBA roles. You are still "in the terminal" daily and prefer solving technical puzzles over attending management meetings.

• The Linux Specialist: You are a Linux native. You understand how the OS interacts with the database layer and aren't afraid of kernel-level optimizations.

• The Multi-Lingual DBA: You are an expert in PostgreSQL or SQL Server (ideally both). If you come from an Oracle background, you are eager to pivot your skills into this high-growth Open Source / MS stack.

• The Quant Mindset: You are organized, proactive, and stay calm when the stakes (and the pressure) are high.
