Senior Manager, Core Banking Technology - J12417

Pinpoint Asia has been working with a top-tier financial institution in Hong Kong to identify a seasoned technology manager for their Personal Banking division.

This is a key management position where you will act as the primary owner for the bank’s mission-critical Core Banking systems. We are looking for a "safe pair of hands" who can ensure the stability of the current Mainframe environment while driving a strategic modernization roadmap.

Key Responsibilities

• Strategic Leadership: Lead a sizable hybrid team (onshore and offshore) to support and enhance Core Banking applications.

• System Modernization: Spearhead the planning and execution of legacy system upgrades, bridging the gap between traditional Mainframe stability and modern digital requirements.

• Business Partnership: Liaise directly with Personal Banking business stakeholders to deliver solutions for CASA, Time Deposits, FX, and Clearing systems.

• Vendor & Resource Management: Oversee external vendor relationships and manage resource allocation to ensure projects are delivered on time and within budget.

• Operational Excellence: Ensure high availability and regulatory compliance for the bank's most critical transaction processing systems.

The Ideal Candidate

• Seasoned Experience: Extensive experience in IT management within the Banking & Finance sector, with a proven track record of managing mission-critical systems.

• Technical Core: Deep expertise in the IBM Mainframe stack (Z/OS, CICS, COBOL, DB2).

• Domain Expertise: Strong functional knowledge of retail banking products (Savings, Checking, Loans, Payments).

• Leadership: Demonstrated ability to lead, mentor, and retain development teams in a high-pressure environment.

• Communication: Excellent command of English and Chinese (Cantonese/Mandarin), with the ability to explain complex technical concepts to business leaders.
