Securities Trade Data Modeling Business Analyst - Leading Investment Bank

At our client's a leading investment bank, we are seeking a dynamic and seasoned Business Systems & Data Modeling Analyst. This dual-faceted role is a unique opportunity that merges in-depth business systems insight with rigorous data modeling expertise. You will play a key role in enhancing global front-to-back trade processes by developing, implementing, and maintaining robust data models and standardized data contracts. Your work will directly support sophisticated transactional systems across various asset classes, including Cash Equity, Listed Derivatives, Fixed Income, FX, and Commodities. Key Responsibilities:

• Evaluate and optimize end-to-end trade processes by translating complex business requirements into actionable technical specifications.

• Serve as the main liaison between IT teams and key business units, such as Front Office, Risk, Compliance, and Sales & Trading.

• Develop and maintain logical data models (employing ER diagramming techniques) to accurately represent trade data and transactional systems.

• Ensure consistent application of advanced data modeling techniques to support standardized data contracts.

• Analyze and dissect complex messaging flows, addressing challenges with innovative and actionable solutions.

• Work closely with technical teams to ensure integration across IT systems while maintaining data integrity and compliance.

• Produce clear and comprehensive technical documentation and specifications for global stakeholders.

• Communicate complex technical concepts in an accessible manner to both IT professionals and business leaders.

• Manage multiple project tasks simultaneously in a fast-paced environment, driving initiatives from conception through to delivery.

• Influence and build relationships with cross-functional teams and external partners to promote adherence to data standards and ensure project momentum.

Qualifications:

• Minimum of 3 years of focused experience in business analysis within transactional systems supporting multiple asset classes.

• Proven expertise in logical data modeling (including ER diagramming) and deep technical understanding of messaging flows.

• Proficiency in SQL with practical experience using data platforms such as DB2, Greenplum, or kdb.

• Familiarity with messaging protocols like FIX to support global trading operations.

• Exceptional analytical skills with the capacity to develop creative and effective solutions to complex technical challenges.

• Strong project management skills with an ability to adapt and multitask in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.

• Excellent technical writing and verbal communication skills, essential for effective stakeholder engagement.

• Demonstrated ability to influence cross-functional teams and manage relationships across diverse business units.

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Finance, or a related field. An advanced degree or relevant certifications are a plus.
