My client, a global hedge fund, is currently looking for a Windows Administrator to join our team. It prioritizes stability and performance when it comes to our Windows servers and workstations and is seeking a mid-career engineer who can standardize, maintain, administer, and evolve its Windows systems in line with industry best practices. In the short term, the focus will be on migrating to Windows 11 and implementing new images for network installs.
Key Responsibilities:
Standardize, maintain, administer, and evolve Windows servers and workstations globally
Migrate to Windows 11 and create new images for network installs
Manage Active Directory, Group Policy, DNS, DHCP, and Windows Updates
Perform Windows PC rebuilds and imaging refresh using MDT/WDS
Install, update, and fix 3rd party software and drivers
Use scripting skills (Python, PowerShell, cmd.exe) for monitoring, automation, troubleshooting, and alerting
Set up and manage virtualization technology (preferably Hyper-V)
Handle vulnerability reports and security updates
Provide end-user desktop support and fulfill user requests
Manage licensing renewals and certificate extensions
Provide hardware support and perform basic repairs and upgrades
Have a practical understanding of PC architecture and hardware for troubleshooting and hardware selection
Configure and manage Windows network settings, routing, and VLANs
Perform audits and maintenance for VEEAM and Lansweeper
Set up and administer MS 365 (mail, teams)
Familiarity with Bash scripting and Linux
Knowledge of public/private key, SSL, SSH, and VPN technologies
Experience with layer-3 and/or layer-1 switch administration
Requirements:
Minimum 5 years of experience in engineering Windows systems
Minimum 2 years of experience as a hands-on team lead, manager, or sole Windows engineer for a small-to-medium-sized business
Strong knowledge and experience with Active Directory, Group Policy, DNS, DHCP, and Windows Updates
Proficiency in Windows PC rebuilds, imaging refresh using MDT/WDS, and 3rd party software/driver management
Excellent scripting skills in Python, PowerShell, and cmd.exe
Experience with virtualization technology, preferably Hyper-V
Familiarity with vulnerability reports, security updates, and end-user support
Ability to handle licensing renewals, certificate extensions, and basic computer hardware/device support
Practical understanding of PC architecture and hardware for troubleshooting and hardware selection
Knowledge of Windows network configuration, routing, VLANs, etc.
Nice to have:
Experience with VEEAM application and backups
Familiarity with Lansweeper audits and maintenance
MS 365 setup and administration experience (mail, teams)
Proficiency in Bash scripting and familiarity with Linux
