The Role & Landscape: You will step in as a key leader within the global database team. This is a player-coach role—you will manage and mentor the team (20-30% of your time) while remaining heavily involved in the technical weeds.

• Leadership & Execution: Guide a talented engineering pod while acting as the final escalation point for complex technical issues.

• Core Engineering: Support, secure, and administer databases in a high-demand, on-premises Linux production environment. Focus heavily on High Availability (HA), capacity planning, and Disaster Recovery.

• Business Partnership: Work face-to-face with quants, researchers, and traders to define data flow requirements and build out solutions that impact trading strategies directly.

• Modernization: Bring in modern analytical database technologies (like ClickHouse or Snowflake) to complement the core SQL Server/Postgres stack.

What We Are Looking For:

• Hands-On Leadership: Proven experience leading technical teams without losing your edge as an individual contributor.

• Core Tech Stack: Deep, production-level expertise in SQL Server and/or PostgreSQL. (If your background is purely Oracle, you must be actively willing and eager to cross-train, as this environment does not use Oracle)

• Infrastructure: Mandatory experience working in on-premises Linux/UNIX environments.

• Automation: Scripting skills (Python, PowerShell, Bash, Ansible) are a major advantage.

• Mindset: Highly organized, proactive, and capable of navigating the pressure of a live trading environment.
