About the Client: We are partnering with a massive, highly stable enterprise operating a dedicated AI Lab. They have moved well past the experimental phase and are aggressively integrating traditional machine learning, GenAI, and Agentic AI into their core consumer operations. They need leaders who can tie heavy technical capabilities directly to P&L, operational efficiency, and commercial strategy.

The Role & Landscape: This is not a back-office R&D role. You will act as a hybrid technical leader and internal management consultant. Your goal is to figure out where AI can actually solve business problems, build the business case, and then lead the technical team to deliver it.

• Lead, coach, and scale a team of Data Scientists delivering ML, predictive analytics, and GenAI solutions.

• Partner directly with business leaders to understand their challenges, structure ambiguous problems, and translate them into actionable data science projects.

• Own the commercial viability of AI solutions—develop business cases evaluating expected benefits, feasibility, and time-to-value.

• Provide technical oversight on model selection, evaluation methods, and code quality (primarily Python-based).

• Navigate cross-functional dependencies, working alongside Machine Learning Engineers, IT, and Data Engineering to ensure models actually make it into production.

What We Are Looking For:

• A commercially minded data professional with a degree in Data Science, CS, Stats, or Math.

• At least 1 year of formal people management experience (hiring, performance reviews, coaching).

• A strong foundation in machine learning and Python, coupled with a practical understanding of Generative AI (LLMs, RAG, AI Agents).

• Exceptional stakeholder management skills. You must be comfortable challenging assumptions, negotiating scope, and translating complex math into plain business English.

• A background in tech consulting or an internal commercial data team (retail, pricing, merchandising experience is highly advantageous).
