Our client is significantly expanding its data capabilities and is looking for a hands-on expert to ensure their data platforms are secure, compliant, and well-governed. This is a crucial role for a subject matter expert to apply their deep knowledge in a complex, multi-market environment. You will be the go-to specialist for data security, operating with a high degree of autonomy and shaping best practices across the region.

Your Role & Responsibilities

As a senior SME, you will be responsible for the technical and procedural aspects of data security and governance. Your primary focus will be on hands-on implementation, risk assessment, and providing expert advice.

Your key responsibilities will include:

• Develop Security & Access Frameworks: Design, build, and maintain robust access management controls and security policies for the company's large-scale data platforms.

• Provide Expert Regulatory Guidance: Act as the key advisor on data compliance, interpreting complex regulations from various jurisdictions across the APAC region and translating them into actionable technical standards.

• Execute Proactive Risk Management: Take a hands-on role in identifying potential data risks, conducting detailed assessments (such as PIAs/DPIAs), and coordinating the response to security incidents.

• Advocate for Best Practices: Partner closely with engineering, architecture, and business teams to provide guidance and promote best practices in data security and privacy.

What You'll Bring

• We are looking for a seasoned specialist with a unique blend of technical acumen, regulatory knowledge, and a collaborative mindset.

• Experience: You have 8+ years of hands-on experience in data governance, information security, or IT risk, with exposure to a multinational, multi-market environment in Asia.

• Regulatory Knowledge: You possess a strong, practical understanding of the data privacy and regulatory landscapes across the APAC region.

• Technical Proficiency: You are highly proficient with modern data ecosystems and have deep knowledge of a major cloud platform (Azure, AWS, or GCP), including its data lake and warehousing technologies.

• Collaboration & Influence: You have excellent communication skills and a proven ability to partner with and advise diverse technical and business teams effectively.

• Certifications: Professional certifications in security, risk, or privacy (e.g., CIPP, CRISC, CISM, CDMP) are highly advantageous.
