Data Centre Infrastructure & MEP Engineer - J13148

About the Client: This is a major institutional infrastructure operator in Hong Kong managing massive, mission-critical physical sites. They run extensive on-site communications facilities and data centres to support high-speed, secure data sharing between various internal units and external departments.

The Role & Landscape: This is a highly active, "boots on the ground" infrastructure role—not a desk-bound software position. Reporting to IT Operations, you will manage physical infrastructure and incident coordination across heavily utilized communications rooms.

• Site Management: Travel across multiple physical sites (including link stations and border control facilities) to manage daily operations, access control, and the ingress/egress of vendor equipment.

• Physical Administration: Handle practical hardware tasks including adding servers, installing network devices, cabling, racking, stacking, and managing overall rack space utilization.

• MEP & Incident Response: Act as the first line of defense for facility emergencies, faults, and drills. You will liaise directly with Technical Services regarding UPS, cooling, and fire services.

• Hours: Primarily standard office hours (9:00 AM – 6:00 PM), with expectations to provide operational support during severe weather or critical emergencies.

What We Are Looking For

• 5+ years of hands-on experience managing data centre facilities, colocation environments, or operations centres.

• Solid technical awareness of MEP systems (electrical, cooling, UPS) and physical racking/cabling to accurately assess if vendor requests are feasible.

• Active Communicator: You cannot be passive. You will handle a good volume of phone coordination, manage vendors directly, and troubleshoot physical access issues on the fly.

• Language: High proficiency in spoken Cantonese/Putonghua is required to manage the vendor base and internal staff.

• Having a valid Hong Kong driving license to travel between sites is great to have.
