Pinpoint Asia is partnering with one of the world’s leading global quantitative and systematic investment managers. Operating across all liquid asset classes globally, our client uses a highly scientific, data-driven approach to investing.
We are currently seeking a highly skilled, hands-on Cloud Engineer to join their specialized Cloud Service & Tools team. This is a pure engineering and execution role—we are looking for a "doer," not an architect. You will be the boots-on-the-ground technologist responsible for deploying, maintaining, and supporting the mission-critical internal tools and distributed infrastructure that power the firm's trading and research globally.
The Role This role requires a practitioner who lives in the command line and thrives in a fast-paced, high-stakes environment. You will be heavily involved in AWS administration, managing Kubernetes clusters, and optimizing CI/CD pipelines to ensure zero-downtime reliability for researchers and quantitative traders.
What You Will Do:
Container Orchestration: Manage and scale robust Kubernetes environments (EKS) and container technologies (Docker, Podman).
Infrastructure as Code: Heavily utilize Terraform and Ansible for automated configuration and infrastructure provisioning.
Pipeline Management: Develop, optimize, and troubleshoot complex CI/CD pipelines (Gitlab CI is heavily utilized).
AWS Administration: Hands-on configuration and management of core AWS services (VPC security/networking, EC2 scaling, IAM, and storage including S3, EFS, EBS, FSx).
Observability: Monitor and support distributed production systems using tools like Cloudwatch, Coralogix, or OpenTelemetry.
OS Management: Deep Linux OS administration, specifically RHEL/Rocky 9.
What You Need to Succeed:
Proven, highly hands-on experience in Cloud Engineering, DevOps, or SRE, ideally within a robust, demanding environment (e.g., trading, fintech, or massive-scale tech).
Deep expertise in AWS, Kubernetes (EKS), and Terraform/Ansible.
Strong experience building and debugging CI/CD pipelines.
Impeccable spoken and written English. You must be an effective communicator capable of describing complex technical issues to highly demanding, non-infrastructure audiences (quants, researchers, traders).
A collaborative, egoless mindset—happy to mentor colleagues, eager to learn, and capable of working autonomously amid changing priorities.
Bonus Points If You Have:
Experience administering specific data/cloud tools: Snowflake, Clickhouse Cloud, or Spacelift.
Experience managing Gitlab on-premises.
Scripting/Programming capabilities in Python, C#, or Rust.
